It has recently come to our attention that our Federal Government and many state governments have passed new legislation regarding identity theft and data security. These laws require all employers to implement a program to protect the confidential information of clients, vendors and employees.  In addition, all companies that invoice for a product and/or service must be in compliance with the latest law, THE FACTA RED FLAG RULES by November 1, 2008.  Companies failing to begin the compliance process may face serious liability issues from government entities as well as class action suits.  To date, over 300 FACTA class action suits have been brought against companies that have experienced a data loss and have failed to implement the compliance requirements.
